I enjoy helping people make better sense of their world. In my work as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Art Therapist in Charlottesville, Virginia, I support individuals who want to examine their current situation and past experiences on their way to shaping their future. I graduated from the University of Virginia in 2002 with a BA in Psychology and Studio Art and obtained my MA in Art Therapy Counseling from Marylhurst University in 2006; since then I have worked in alternative schools, day treatment, and in-home services.

While I have experience with a wide variety of clients, I specialize in work with pre-teens and adolescents, with a decade of experience working with this population. I’ve worked to support youth and their families, both biological and therapeutic foster families. In our sessions, my goal is to partner with each individual as they identify goals, learn about ways to work toward these goals, and practice their best options.

Examples of issues I can aid with include:

-improving communication

-improving social skills

-stress reduction

-emotional regulation

-dealing with impulsivity

-anger management

-sexual offense and abuse issues

-managing anxiety and depression

I have extensive experience leading group therapy with adolescents and enjoy partnering with organizations to design and implement art therapy group programs at their locations.

If you think I can help you or your child, I’d love to speak with you! Please contact me here.
